The perfect balance of nostalgic looks and modern technology, the Roland Sands Ronin is as tough as it is good-loo
Not only is this suit said to be updated and would easily stand out from the other competitors, it is also said to be user friendly. Along with being waterproof, this attire has a special “aqua barrier” hood that goes underneath your helmet to prevent water leaks down your back or on your neck. Having an extra barrier between your head, neck or back and the rain would be much appreciated on a downpour.
This rain suit takes into consideration that rain makes visibility lessen, and uses reflective details to ensure anyone driving past would surely spot this motorcyclist. Both the jacket and the pants are made with nylon which is intended to reduce slipping. To ensure maximum waterproof protection, there are elastic cuffs in the waist and on the legs to ensure water does not seep in.
This particular jacket/pants combo even has polyester mesh lining on the inside of the jacket. This allows for air circulation which can increase breathability. The Tourmaster Defender would be a great buy for your rainy rides because not only does it go above and beyond to keep water and moisture off the rider, but it also considers safety, by having the reflective design and anti-slip material. Could this be the best motorcycle rain suit?
PROS
- Safe
- User-friendly
- Many sizes
CONS
- Jacket & Pants Sold Together (Can’t Mix Match Sizes)
- “Unisex”, but Caters to Men
- Elastic Cuffs Could Get Uncomfortable

2. Frogg Toggs All Sport Rain Suit
Features
- Polypropylene nonwoven fabric

- Stow Away Hood
- Mesh Lining
- High-density Nylon
- Elastic Cuffs for Legs and Wrists
- Reflective Detailing
This rain suit may be your go-to if you prefer lightweight and simple attire. The Frogg Toggs All Sport Rain Suit claims to be lightweight, flexible and durable, which would come in handy on a long distance trip or in the case of having a lot to carry. Along with being waterproof, this suit is also breathable and comfortable.
Unlike the Tourmaster Defender, Frogg Toggs doesn’t exclusively have the reflective design on all of their suits. Some suits may be a bit brighter, but there are plenty that are just dark, dull colors. The pants and jacket are completely made of polypropylene, which can be used to make plastic. The description does not say whether this material helps with the possibility of slipping or not.
The product is generally cheaper than some of the other options, but do you get what you pay for in this case? It sounds and looks like it would be worth the money, although the fact that it does not cover the same safety measures as some of the others is a bit alarming. When it comes to riding a motorcycle, safety should be a priority.
PROS
- Affordable
- Lightweight
- Machine Washable
CONS
- Exclusively for Men
- No Mesh
- No Safety Features

3. Alpinestars Hurricane Rain Suit
Features
- Made of poly-nylon fabric and poly-mesh lining
- For men
- Sizes small – 3X
- Waterproof
- Aqua Neck Barrier
- Stow Away Hood
- Mesh Lining
- High-density Nylon
- Elastic Cuffs for Legs and Wrists
- Reflective Detailing
This one claims to provide ultimate waterproof protection while maintaining a super lightweight composure. That sounds like the best of both worlds! As further investigation is done onto this suit, it is noted that it is made out of a poly-nylon fabric that prevents sticking to the clothes that are worn beneath the suit, which would allow for more comfortability while riding.
Not only does this suit state to be 100% waterproof, but it also has lining on the inside made of poly-mesh that allows breathability and circulation. It also has the reflective design to allow for riders to stand out in poor weather conditions. Safety measures are always a big perk in my book. There is elastic on the cuffs to ensure that no water or wind comes inside the suit.
Unlike the Tourmaster Defender or Frogg Toggs, the Alpinestars Hurricane Rain Suit is all one piece instead of having pants and a jacket. As long as the person wearing this outfit is the same size in pants as they are in jacket I believe this is a better idea to ensure no rain or other elements can penetrate the suit and get on the clothes underneath.
PROS
- One Whole Piece Suit
- Reflective Design
- Mesh Lining
CONS
- Expensive
- Exclusively for Men
- No Hood

4. Nelson-Rigg Stormrider Rain Suit
Features
- Made of polyester and corduroy
- Unisex
- Small-4X
- Waterproof
- Aqua Neck Barrier
- Stow Away Hood
- Mesh Lining
- High-density Nylon
- Elastic Cuffs for Legs and Wrists
- Reflective Detailing
Unlike the Alpinestars Hurricane Rain Suit, the Nelson-Rigg Stormrider Rain Suit is two pieces instead of one whole. It is definitely one of the least expensive options that we have discussed in this article, but does that also mean it has the lowest quality as well?
Like the rest, it claims to be 100% waterproof. The outer part of the suit is made of polyester and it has a PVC backing. Along with having two big pockets on the outside, it also has a storm flap that can be fastened on the full-length zipper. The inner collar is made of corduroy and unlike Alpinestars, it does in fact have a hood.
Along with the elastic cuffs that we have previously seen before, it has adjustable and self fastening tabs on the cuffs as well. There is a stripe on the pants and the jacket to ensure the motorcyclist will be spotted, especially in inclement weather. The descriptions do not state anything about the breathability of this particular outfit, nor does it discuss anything on it that makes it anti-slip. There are cooling vents under each arm, though.
Comparing this to the other suits we have just reviewed, it does not seem like the best choice. Yes, it is cheaper than the others, but perhaps the price isn’t the main thing we should be focusing on here. It seems as though you get what you pay for, and if you want to stay dry and safe in a storm while riding your bike, maybe you should check out one of the more expensive options.
PROS
- Unisex
- Very Inexpensive
- Adjustable cuffs
CONS
- No Suspenders
- Not Breathable
- No Anti-Slip

5. Joe Rocket Men’s Motorcycle Rain Suit
Features
- Made of polyester and corduroy
- For Men
- Sizes small-4X
- Waterproof
- Aqua Neck Barrier
- Stow Away Hood
- Mesh Lining
- High-density Nylon
- Elastic Cuffs for Legs and Wrists
- Reflective Detailing
Joe Rocket’s suit seems almost identical to Norman-Rigg’s. It is also very inexpensive, but does not have as many features as the first three suits we reviewed. It is two pieces, unlike Alpinestars. Like Norman-Rigg, it is also made out of polyester, which leads me to believe that polyester is a cheaper material to use.
This suit does, in fact, have reflective designs. It also claims to be completely waterproof with the PVC backing. Another perk of this suit is the storm flap on the zipper as well as VELCRO to close the flap. Also, there is ventilation on the back, which allows breathability, unlike Norman-Rigg’s.
While similar to Norman-Rigg’s, does have a few more perks for roughly the same price. I would say it is a better buy than Norman-Rigg’s, but I do not think it is appealing enough to beat the other competition. I think the manufacturer did a good job putting something together for a low price, but I do not think it is the best motorcycle rain suit.
PROS
- Breathable
- Inexpensive
- Reflective Design
CONS
- Exclusively for Men
- Cheap Material
- No Suspenders

Conclusion
After careful review and examination of all of these five motorcycle rain suits, I would have to say the Tourmaster Defender 2.0 Two-Piece Rain Suit is the best motorcycle rain suit. To begin with, the huge range of sizes is the most versatile as well as the fact that it is a unisex suit. The suit is made to not only be waterproof, but also user-friendly and slip-proof.
The manufacturer seems to really care about the safety of riders due to the anti-slip nature as well as the reflective design. For being such a great option, it is not too terribly expensive. I truly believe if you are in the market for the best motorcycle rain suit, the Tourmaster Defender 2.0 Two-Piece Rain Suit is your best option.
